Privacy Policy

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and either a securely hashed password or, for Sign in with Apple, your Apple account identifier. Apple may provide a private relay email address and, if you allow it, your name, which we use as your display name. You may optionally provide or change a display name and profile photo. Profile photos are stored in a public bucket and can be viewed by anyone with their link.

Journal Content

Your journal entries, including text, mood selections, tags, and titles, are stored securely in our database. This content is yours — we never sell it or use it to train AI models. We share the content needed to provide the App with the service providers described in Sections 3 and 5, including Google Gemini for AI processing.

Voice Recordings

Voice journaling can use on-device speech recognition when supported. Otherwise, cloud transcription may be used automatically where your plan and AI preference allow it; audio is sent to Google Gemini and may be temporarily uploaded to private Supabase storage. Current app versions remove transcription uploads after processing, or retry removal from the same device if cleanup fails. Uploads that cannot be removed this way, including those left by earlier versions, may remain in private storage until removed or your account is deleted. The transcript is saved as journal content. Recordings retained on your device or in your account remain private to you; other users cannot access them.

Images

Handwriting recognition can run on-device without sending the page to an AI service. If on-device recognition cannot read the whole page or is unavailable, cloud text extraction (OCR) may be used automatically where your plan and AI preference allow it. The image is then uploaded to private Supabase storage and sent to Google Gemini. Temporary scan uploads are removed after processing where cleanup succeeds; failed cleanup may leave an upload until removed or your account is deleted. Extracted text is saved as journal content. Image attachments may sync to your account’s private Supabase storage; other users cannot access them.

Subscriptions

Apple processes your App Store payments. We receive and store transaction identifiers, the subscription product, expiry and revocation status linked to your account to verify Premium access. We do not receive your payment-card details.

Usage Data

We store mood trends and journaling streaks to power your personal statistics. We also collect account-linked usage events, such as app opens, feature use, entry counts and trial activity, with fixed labels and numeric properties rather than journal text. Mood trends and summaries may also be included in the context sent to Google Gemini for your personalized reflections, as described below.

Reliability Diagnostics

We use Sentry for crash, error and performance diagnostics from release versions of the App, and error reports from our servers. Reports can include technical device and app information, an account identifier and error details. The app is configured to exclude screenshots, journal content and request bodies from automatic diagnostics. Screenshots you deliberately submit as feedback are handled separately.

Feedback

If you mark an AI insight as helpful or not helpful, we save that rating with the insight in your account. Recent rating counts may be sent to Google Gemini to personalize the tone of your reflections and your profile's communication style.

If you send feedback, we store your message, device model, operating-system and app version, and any screenshot you choose to attach in Supabase. Screenshots can include visible journal text. The screenshot option is off by default and is available through Shake to Report.

How AI Reflections Work

Your journal entries are processed by third-party AI services (Google Gemini) to generate reflections, insights, mood analysis, entity extraction and embeddings. We use Google’s paid Gemini API service. Under Google’s terms for that service, Google does not use your prompts or responses to improve its products, including AI models. Google may retain limited data for abuse monitoring and legal purposes. We do not train AI models on your journal content.

How Your Experience Improves Over Time

Zenith builds a personal profile within your account based on your journaling patterns — your interests, values, communication style, and current goals. This profile, along with summaries of your recent weeks, mood trends and counts of your recent helpful/not-helpful ratings by insight type, is used as context when generating reflections. This means the more you journal, the more relevant and personal your reflections become.

This personalization is specific to your account. Your profile and summaries, along with recent insight-rating counts, may be sent to Google Gemini as context for your own AI results. They are never shared with other users or used to improve anyone else’s experience. Personalization uses this stored context rather than training a model on your entries.
